New trucks and buses
In August 2026, the Russian market for new trucks continued to shrink. During the month, 3,639 trucks were sold, including special and specialized vehicles. This is 24.7% less than the result for August last year.
In January–August, sales amounted to 32,926 units — 15.1% less than a year earlier. At the same time, domestic equipment maintains its position: since the beginning of the year, 17,059 trucks of Russian brands have been sold, which is 3% more than in the same period in 2025. Imports accounted for 15,867 vehicles — 29% less year‑on‑year.
KAMAZ remains the market leader: 11,622 trucks were sold over eight months, which corresponds to approximately 35% of the market. The most in‑demand model was the KAMAZ 5490 4X2 truck tractor — its sales increased by 70%, reaching 2,330 units.
The decline in the bus market was less pronounced. In August, 732 buses were sold — 22% less than a year earlier. Over eight months, sales amounted to 5,738 units, a decrease of 4.4%. At the same time, Russian brands account for about 77% of the market. PAZ maintains its leadership with a 32% share: over eight months, 1,926 buses were sold, which is 34% less than the previous year.
Separately, the electric bus segment continues to grow: over eight months, sales increased by 39.4%, reaching 229 units. KAMAZ remains the leader here, with 225 electric buses.
According to the Sigma Expo Group Analytical Center, in September–October, the rate of decline in the truck market may slow down to 15-18% year‑on‑year due to the low base effect. At the same time, a recovery to the 2025 level is not expected by the end of 2026. By the end of the year, sales may amount to 50–52 thousand trucks, which is 16–18% less than last year’s figure.
